Linear Series

Series of prints created as multi-plate prints using drypoint, photo-etch and solarplate. The artwork for these images was drawn onto glass plates which had previously been sand blasted with part of the image. These glass plates were then used as the masters to make the solarplate and etch plates. As the series progresses the sandblacsting gets more complex in the background. Have also been adding lots of chine colle and doing them as unique prints.

Art from Archaeology

Artwork and plates are in process of being made for a new commission received from The Landscape Research Centre, based in North Yorkshire.

These will comprise a series of prints based on archaeological survey data from the Vale of Pickering and will be made available through the Research Centre.

As a registered charity all profits from the sale of prints will go to further the local geophysical data set. Proof of first plate now shown. These works will now culminate in an exhibition at Scampston Hall during 2011.

Toyobo Plates

“Toyobo” plates are one of the proprietary polymer or flexographic plates readily available to the print-maker. They are a nylon based polymer material backed with a thin stainless steel sheet. When used with a photographic image they give a very similar effect to a photo-gravure plate. they are capable of developing a very broad range of tonal values. They are also one of the group of products collectively known as “Solarplate” (attributed to Dan Welden)
